Dominant follicle
The follicle that 'wins' in a natural cycle, growing to 18–24 mm and releasing one egg. In IVF stimulation, gonadotrophins suppress this selection, allowing multiple follicles to grow simultaneously. An early dominant follicle may indicate poor ovarian response.
